Bully

about

The indie-sleaze gods must be
thanked. Lonesome Dove are still
with us. A year has seen them go
from a band several months old to a
band who have used the last year to
progress from “get to know you
games” and “workplace
teambuilding” to a tight, close -knit,
telepathic rock combo. With the
positive response to their debut
“AWWWW” still bubbling, and
memories from a run of amazing
headliners and supports, Lonesome
Dove are back.

BULLY is the first single off their
debut album set for release in early
2023.

BULLY isn’t about a specific person
but a specific clique. It’s about
moving away from those who don’t
“get it”, forgetting the clique and
being free to do your best, the way
YOU want.

A throwdown challenge of sorts but
certainly not described as such, Ben
(guitar) gave a phone demo the old
select/share/message treatment
with Nici (lead vocals/ guitar) as it’s
recipient. Nurturing it’s potential
with a lyric and melody into the
earworm you have before you. The
band (completed by Olga on bass
and Leo on drums) rehearsed and
recorded the track at their own Pink
House Studio.

lyrics

I heard those things they said to you
I hope you know that it’s not true
It makes me sad to see the wasted time and the dimming light

Sometimes you’re looking at yourself
I think that you see someone else
That persons from the past and they don’t owe you anything

It’s easier for you to fall back down and stay there for a while.
I know you wanna go back under so you can hide

It’s ok
It’s alright
We’re gonna throw it all away and start tonight
It’s ok it’s alright
We’re gonna drive off off this cliff let’s go tonight

Start tonight….

The push and pull down of it all
Don’t even have the chance to fall
They wanna keep you down so they don’t have to see themselves
One day you think you’ve had enough
Build up the courage to be tough
But then the waters in your lungs and you can hardly breathe.
