The Community Chest present their third EP and fourth release since their formation in in 2011, Mono/Poly. The circle is complete. (Finally) a Monopoly reference with a twist… Mono - only one. Poly - many. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts? Wrong Aristotle. Wrong. This is The Community Chest’s first release to include song writing from all band members. So the title is indeed apt. 5 tracks that stick together like a team but carry their own merit.

Memory Man - an ode to an effects unit? Possibly. Perhaps. Just someone who’s ultra helpful whether you need to double your voice or guide you on a twilight jog. Check that middle section. You can’t accuse the band of being stingy with epicness.

Handshake - Handshake was planned, mapped and scrapped. Handshake developed into a tour de force production of layered synths and multi-tracked percussion almost unlike any other track the band has produced. Lyrically, Handshake uses the electronic "handshake" generated by early computerised communication systems as a metaphor for fleeting relationships. Banger.

Sounder - The 1973 Hammond Sounder organ - voted the worst Hammond organ of all time, we were determined to write a song on one. Replacing the Sounder (which was subsequently sold to an ex-Australian Idol Finalist for $20) with a Casio keyboard and Roland SH-2000 synthesizer, the recording finally came together. American Civil War graves, the groundhogs of Punxatawny and a train trip within the boundaries of Harrisburg's Three Mile Island completed the lyrical bent. The song was mixed by Aaron Espinoza (Earlimart) and Jason Lytle (Grandaddy) in Los Angeles. Jason also played something else on the recording but he won't tell us what.

In My Dreams - is The Community Chest's first time-traveling pocket-symphony-audio-micro-film-rock opera based in New York City from the Pre-Virus present day to the Manhattan of the Native American Lenape. It’s funny to think that the last minute of this song was conceived BEFORE the band became Sly Stone tragics…

One Way Flight - A relaxed dual vocal harking back to the early days of the band, the last song recorded for the EP is a perfect antidote to the heavy moments leading up to it. A kind of sweet-revenge tale assembled via instrument swapping, melody muck-ins and real time sound manipulation.
